(PYC) Parish Youth Catechesis program works with our parish families to help support and form parents in their role as primary educators of our faith. We use the family catechesis model which assists families in making the home the cornerstone for faith sharing and development. From this foundation, families help foster a personal relationship with God and grow in their understanding of our faith.
Faith formation is a continual progression. Preparing for the sacraments is a two-year commitment and process. All children who are preparing to receive any sacrament are required to successfully complete two years consecutively in our faith formation program. Students preparing to celebrate a sacrament must have completed at least one year of faith formation immediately prior to the sacramental preparation year.
Mass attendance is also an important part of the family catechesis model. There is no substitute for Mass. When we bring our children to Holy Mass, we are bringing our children and ourselves to Jesus, to His perfect Sacrifice offered to God the Father for our salvation. We are bringing them to the fountain of grace flowing from His Paschal Mystery.
In order to enroll your child in the PYC program, a yearly meeting with Father O’Connor and the Director of Faith Formation is required for each family before registering for the Family Faith Formation sessions. Please call the parish office to set up this meeting. Registration materials will be given to families at this meeting.
